Chrysler Sebring recall
Recalls are done when a vehicle has encountered problems with any of the vehicles
aspects. They are made to be returned to the dealer and the problem is fixed.
Sometimes a certain batch is recalled due to faulty parts used for its production.
When a certain aspect fails a safety test, these are replaced free of charge when
recalled.
In 1996 Daimler Chrysler issued a recall for 39000 Sebring's due to a faulty rear view mirror. The electrical
contacts of the power mirror switch can accumulate salt due to water seepage.
This can result to a high resistance short circuit and could lead to a fire. Dealers
replaced the defective power mirror switch with a better design. 1997 proved to
be a year of multitude recalls for the Sebring.

Six recalls were issued by the NHTSA (National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration).
These recall included problems in the Vehicle Speed Control, Suspension front
control arm, head restraint in the front assembly of the seats, the start switch,
the lower ball joint in the front suspension and the body structure in the roof
and pillars. Dealers have dealt with the problem free of charge. From then on
till know, the engineers have been baffled with this problem because succeeding
recalls were also done on the same problems. If you are a Sebring owner, just
try to watch out for recall notices and try to determine if your Sebring is a
part of the production batch being recalled.
